Hi, my name is Kristen! This is a blog about my life! I talk a lot about my kids, the adventures I have with my sons, Cole and Carson, and about my journey grieving my son, Cohen’s, unexpected death.
Most of you probably already know me but just in case you don’t I thought I would share a little about myself. I was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. My husband, Crist and I met in Guatemala on a missions trip. He was born and raised Amish. We were married a year and six months after we first met. Our first year was a little crazy. We were raised in two very different environments and it was a little hard to adjust.
Two years after we were married, in 2007, we had our first son, Cole. Cole is now a very active, talkative, crazy, funny, energetic, never stops, five year old. He is in preschool and having a little trouble adjusting to not being able to talk and run around all the time. A little over two years later, we had our second son, Carson. Carson is a sweet, silly, active, two year old, snuggle bug. He tries so hard to keep up with his big brother.
Two years after we had Carson, in June of 2012, our lives were forever changed. After a nearly perfect pregnancy and only 10 days before my due date I gave birth to our third son, Cohen. Cohen was born without a heartbeat for reasons still unknown to us and our doctors. The picture above was taken only a week and a half before our dreams were shattered.
This blog is about my family’s life. It will include stories of the crazy things that so often seem to happen to me and also stories of our loss of Cohen. So many times in my life I have called my mom about something that has happened and said to her, “I am sure people around me were thinking, whats wrong with that woman!” Because my children are being crazy and me looking like I am about to pull my hair out or because I am walking through Kohl’s with tears streaming down my face because I just saw a rack of Baby’s First Christmas clothes and knowing I will not be able to have Cohen here to celebrate his first Christmas.
